“I do not usually take the time to write a testimony, because I feel they not really add value to the product or help people. However, in this instance Martin really helped me correct some errors in my stitching technique, teach me some new stuff and what I valued the most, is that he provided reassurance and compliments where I was doing something well, so it would be a disservice to not write a testimony.
I am a details person and it was humbling, in a positive way, to have someone who knew more about the task and how to get that high end craftsmanship some people aspire to achieve, but have a teacher that has that skill themselves and actually know how to explain it to the student trying to learn it and coaching me when I was making an error, explaining what the error is and what it would result in and how to remedy it.
I have watched countless hours of YouTube tutorials and made a lot of leather pieces, which given to people who know the quality of hand sewn leatherwork, they have said I have very good stitching and I have shown other leatherworkers and they say it is very good stitching as well, but 2 hours with Martin has advanced me years in technique, allayed my anxiety and given me confidence that I can now do not good, but instead great work going forward that it is of an exceptional standard and my only regret is that I wish I found him and did the lesson sooner.
I learnt two things from him that I can confidently say is not on any YouTube channel I have viewed, that is 100% worth learning from him.
I will absolutely be doing more lessons in future.

“When I heard Martin was offering one on one lessons via zoom I jumped at the chance, as someone who has never had any formal education in leatherwork and learned everything from YouTube and trial and error, the ability to talk to one of Australia’s best leather crafters was something I couldn’t pass up. 

I asked to cover stitching for our first lesson, although I had a basic understanding of how to stitch, Martin was able to ensure I was following the correct technique to create a beautiful front and back stitch along with explaining the theory behind the perfect stitch, we also went over starting and finishing with variations of back stitching for different situations. 

Martin explains things simply and in easy to understand language to make sure you fully understand the information, I’ll definitely be going back for further lessons and cannot recommend him enough, if you’re looking to improve your skills and create nicer products I can’t recommend Martin’s classes enough.”
