This is my absolute favourite thing to make, a double gusset briefcase. Back in 2016 I trained in luxury briefcase making in Hong Kong, and we made this same style of briefcase during the training. Since then I have improved my skills and the design of the case as I feel this is the ultimate expression of my passion for leathercraft. The case I made back in 2016 looks quite rough compared to what I can now produce.

So lets get into the features first.

  • Two main compartments separated by a zipped divider, large enough for a 16" laptop.
  • The rear compartment features a zipped pocket with open tapered pocket behind (large enough for a smart phone), two pen loops, and a triple gusset credit card/business card holder.
  • The lock is nickel plated brass combination lock made in Italy. As smooth as it gets.
  • The handle is the ultimate feature of this case, made entirely from stacked leather shaved by hand to shape and wrapped in leather. It can flex up when carried, then sit flat when not in use. It is as comfortable as a handle can be. One handle takes 12 hours to make.
  • The accordion double gusset allows the case to expand or contract depending on the amount of items carried. These are the best looking gussets in my opinion.

The case is made from soft and supple Minerva Liscio by Badalassi Carlo in Italy, and the main panels have been reinforced with stiffener so that it can stand under it's own weight.

The lining is grey pigskin suede from Japan, and is as soft and smooth as anything. Lovely to touch and quite durable at the same time. Under the flap is a tan kangaroo leather lining.

Each zip pull is made by hand with leather core padding, hand stitching and burnished edges.

Underneath the handle, the case has an integral stiffener made of carbon fibre and is screwed and peened in place with rivets and leather wrapped brass screws.

All edges are burnished to a high gloss finish and sealed for durability. An external feature only found on my Premium cases is a padded tab above the lock. On the Executive models, this tab is flat. Each case comes with it's own serial number. This case is No. 05.

Total time to make a case like this is more than 100 hours. Around 30 of those hours are hand stitching using a traditional saddle stitch. The material cost is nearly $800 alone. In my opinion, it is probably the best briefcase you can buy in Australia.

The case will ship with a suede dust bag.

External dimensions are 400mm W x 320mm H x 130mm D

If you like this case but you would like a different colour or features, please reach out to me to place a custom order. I also have a cheaper, simpler version of this case called the Envoy Executive, with no zip pockets and a flat lock pull tab.
